YMCA in Malta, together with YWCA, has been awarded First Runner-Up in the EPALE Awards by the Ministry of Education in Malta. EPALE Awards is about celebrating adult learning in Malta and raising the profile of adult educators. Following this achievement, our staff & volunteers working at the YMCA shelter for homeless people were awarded the 'Team of the Year, 2018' title by the Minister of European Affairs and Equality in Malta.
YMCA has also concluded a renewal of a 3-year service provision contract with the Ministry for the Family and Social Solidarity to continue providing sheltered accommodation and a care programme; 'Residential Course in Independent Living' to homeless people.
YMCA in Malta has grown in the past years not only into providing a Residential Programme but also in the Youth Empowerment Programme, the Wellbeing Programme, and the Social Business Programme. YMCA has been awarded two new funding programmes for 2019 – 'Clear Minds – Better Lives', a project to tackle Mental Health with young people under the Wellbeing Programme and 'TENSING Malta – a youth-led Performing Arts Project to work with young teenagers in leading the upcoming three YMCA Festivals in Malta next year.
