"Crossing Cultures in EVS" is a Partnership Building Activity which will take place in northern Romania, Baia Mare between 12th-16th of May 2014.

For 5 days, it will reunite 12 organizations accredited on European Voluntary Service (EVS) projects, and 24 participants coming from EU, Eastern Europe and The Caucasus (Armenia, Georgia, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Romania, Ukraine).

The themes of the project are:

  • partnership Building Activity for EVS accredited organizations,
  • the Intercultural Dimension of EVS,
  • multiculturality,
  • overcoming stereotypes and prejudices.

Representatives of active EVS organizations will come together to develop mechanisms for strenghtening the intercultural aspect of EVS and to build a strong and reliable network for future joint EVS projects.

The objectives of this project are:

  • sharing good parctices,
  • building a strong cooperation and a network of organizations which share the same vision,
  • promoting the intercultural learning in the EVS projects,
  • developing other types of Youth In Action projects, especially EVS,
  • developing and sharing tools for raising the Intercultural qualifications of EVS support people (mentor, coordinator, language teacher),
  • creating mobilities (sending and hosting volunteers in EVS).

Methods used during this project will be non-formal, with a strong accent on the intercultural dimension in EVS projects. We will use methods such as: role plays, open-space, world cafe, ice-breakers, learning to play and playing to learn.

The project is financed by the European Comission through the Youth In Action Programme.
